Bus service updates
This page provides information on any changes other than disruptions to bus services in Leicestershire. Fixed service change dates throughout the year that are agreed between bus operators and the Council, as well as exempted services from those dates, are also shown here.
Arriva X6
From 22 August, Arriva will be making changes to its X6 service, which operates between Leicester and Coventry. The changes are being introduced in response to low passenger demand on certain sections of the route.
We have been working closely with Arriva to minimise the impact of these changes. As part of this, Arriva will be amending their service 8 to continue serving the affected Three Pots area. Although the revised service will operate less frequently than the current X6, it will continue to provide residents with access to key local destinations and essential transport links.
In addition, Leicestershire County Council will be making changes to the LC14 service to ensure that residents living at the Castlewood caravan park continue to have access to a bus service that takes them to Hinckley.
A summary of the changes is provided in the table below.

Diamond 19
Following Diamond’s announcement that it will withdraw service 19 which served Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Packington, Measham, Oakthorpe, Donisthorpe, Acresford and Albert Village, we are pleased to share that a revised replacement has been secured in partnership with East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) and Diamond to continue serving the affected areas. From 20 August, buses will continue to serve these areas by extending the existing Diamond 4 service, helping to maintain vital public transport links for local residents. There will be some minor timetable changes which will be updated and available shortly. More information can be found here.
Diamond 9
We are aware of concerns about the announcement from Diamond regarding bus service 9, which currently connects East Midlands Gateway and Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Leicestershire County Council and its partners are actively exploring options to maintain connectivity and will provide a further update as soon as alternative arrangements have been confirmed.
Arriva 11 and 12
Arriva has proposed changes to services 11 (Coalville – Agar Nook) and 12 (Coalville – Whitwick) from 22 August, including the withdrawal of Saturday journeys for service 12 while weekday journeys would continue. Discussions are ongoing about the wider bus network in North West Leicestershire, and we want to reassure residents and stakeholders that we are working proactively with partners to minimise disruption and help ensure communities continue to have access to public transport.
LC12 Measham – Fenny Drayton
The afternoon journey on this service has been temporarily retimed to depart from Measham at 1340. This change applies until late August.
Bus registration dates
Bus operators are required to submit a local bus service registration to the Traffic Commissioner if they wish to start a new, or vary an existing, local bus service. This includes changes to the timetable or route and can range from changing the time of one journey to withdrawing (cancelling) the service entirely. The service must then be run at the times and along the route in accordance with the registered details. The bus operator must also notify the County Council of its intention to submit a registration to the Traffic Commissioner.
As part of the Leicestershire Enhanced Bus Partnership, it has been agreed with the operators that local bus service registration changes will occur on the following fixed dates. Note that dates marked * apply to changes to services in the county only:
