Our Workplace Roadshows bring the Active Travel Teams into your workplace to speak directly with employees about the sustainable travel choices available to them. Staff can find out about a range of support, including:

  • BetterPoints rewards
  • eBike loans
  • Led walks and cycle rides
  • Cycle training and maintenance sessions
  • The Choose How You Move Journey Planner

Not only do the roadshows offer information and support to the staff, they also offer them the chance to learn more about their own health and help to bring the benefits of active travel to life.

Body Composition Analysis

Body Composition Analysis

A popular feature of our roadshows is the opportunity for staff to receive a free body composition analysis.

The monitor provides an indication of physical health by giving a breakdown of muscle, body fat, bone mass and water levels in the body. This provides a useful starting point for conversations about health, wellbeing and physical activity.

We also discuss how employees commute and provide TRACC maps showing walking and cycling journey times to their work location, helping them see active travel as a realistic option.

TRACC Maps

TRACC Maps

TRACC is the name of the software for maps which show a 30-minute radius from the work location in 5-minute intervals for both walking and cycling.

We ask employees to identify where they live on a map. This helps address common misconceptions about travel distances and journey times on foot or by bike.

For example, this map shows walking distances from City Hall:

Case Study - Hastings Direct Go Green Fair

As part of its commitment to sustainability and employee wellbeing, Hastings Direct invite the Active Travel Teams to attend its Go Green Fair in Leicester each year.

Staff members were interested in the options for travelling more sustainably, in particular the eBike loans, cycle training, women-only rides and BetterPoints.

Many were surprised to discover the walking and cycling time from their homes to the office was significantly less than they had thought.

As a result, many staff left with a greater understanding of the travel options available to them, and how including activity every day as part of a journey they have to do anyway can lead to better health.
