Do you want to get back into cycling but don’t have a bike available to you? Do you have children that have outgrown their bikes and need an upgrade?
The Choose How You Move team has now opened applications for Big Bike Boost grants.

Leicestershire residents are welcome to apply for a grant to receive the below:
One application is for one bike. If you’d like to receive a grant for more than one person (e.g. for dependents or children), please submit an application for each bike required.

Please note the grant does have an upper limit and anything over this will not be reimbursed.
All grants are approved on a first come first served basis.
You will be required to provide proof of address to obtain a reimbursement.
You can get a bike for free through our new grant scheme
Cycling is a great way to change up your commute or move around for leisure
You can burn calories, improve your cardiovascular health and build up your muscle
Earn rewards, such as high street vouchers, by signing up to BetterPoints and logging your journeys
If you think you may want some further training after receiving your bike, please let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
Alternatively, Cycling UK is offering free adult cycle courses across Leicestershire.
Once you have your bike and safety equipment, all we ask is that you provide us with some data for our monitoring. This includes a short travel survey and information on how you’re using your new bike.
We would also like to make some case studies on how these bikes are then used to provide to the Department for Transport. We may reach out to you and ask if you’d be willing to support this.
The nature of the grant requires a submission of personal data (name, email address, phone number, home address, age and bank details) to Choose How You Move for the application to be logged.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides us with guidance around collecting and processing your personal information.
We do not require any other personal data in order for you to apply for a grant. Choose How You Move will not use your data in any other way than for the intended purpose of logging applications, contacting specified persons in the event of a grant being allocated, and sharing anonymised data with the funding body, Department for Transport.
Please find our full Fair Processing Notice for this competition here.
Please contact choosehowyoumove@leics.gov.uk if you would like more information on how we process your data.
