Summary

Walks start from the small postbox on Astill Lodge Road, opposite Ipswich Close. Four short routes (of up to 1 hour) are available from this location. Routes have been created by Ramblers volunteers and are available on the Ramblers website. See links below.

Castle Hill Country Park – Castle Hill Quarter 

Route Summary: A short circular walk around the Castle Hill Quarter of Castle Hill Country Park. Get close to nature and history by walking through the woods, an orchard, the site of a medieval preceptory and fishpond and a nature area. To access this route on the Ramblers website – click here.

 

Castle Hill Country Park – Anstey Quarter 

Route Summary: This short circular takes in the Anstey Quarter of Castle Hill Country Park. There is a good view of the historic King William’s Bridge and there are plenty of trees, butterflies and birds in the Rothley Brook Meadows. To access this route on the Ramblers website – click here. 

 

Castle Hill Country Park – Blue Gates Quarter 

Route Summary: A short circular walk to the Blue Gates Quarter of Castle Hill Country Park. There is an opportunity to look for wild flowers and butterflies in the Wild Flower Meadow and there are some great views of Bradgate Park. To access this route on the Ramblers website – click here.

Castle Hill Country Park – Nothill Quarter

Route Summary: This short circular walk offers a woodland walk, scenic views and a local wildlife site. It is a really interesting walk with plenty of variety of trees, flowers, butterflies etc and is quite flexible to allow walks to just one point of interest .
