Our Walks this month…

Wildlife Walk: A Walk on the Wild Side in Western Park
Thursday 9 April at 10am
Starting outside the Western Park main gates, Hinckley Road. Bus stop nearby.
Around 90 minutes for walk and talk. Steady pace.
A Walk on the Wild Side is hosted by an experienced wildlife expert who will lead you around the park, pausing to talk about the different types of insects, plants, birds and other wildlife found here. This steady-paced walk is a great way to relax while discovering a little about nature in the city. Please note: This walk will include some soft and uneven paths.  As we are looking at wildlife, we regret that dogs are not permitted on our nature-themed walks. Free to attend but booking is required.

For details and to book visit Eventbrite (booking opens 27 March)

Around 75 minutes. Steady pace.

Join a friendly stroll in one of Leicester’s green spaces with waterside views. This walk will mostly keep moving, and any information stops will be short and light. The walk is free to attend but booking is required.

Join us for a walk from the city centre to Woodgate, discovering locations of heritage interest along the way. We include historic events at the North Bridge, a late Victorian library, a local biscuit factory, plus stories of local pubs, with light information as we go. Special Interest Walk: Seasonal Tree Tour in Abbey Park

Saturday 25 April at 11.30am
Starting outside the cafe in Abbey Park, near the oval.
Around 1.3 miles with information stops along the way.
Around 90 minutes, steady pace.

Join us for a guided walk through Abbey Park to admire the beautiful spring blossoms and discover a little about trees at this time of year. Presented by our volunteer Tree Wardens, this seasonal stroll takes in selected trees from the Abbey Park tree trail and visits the park’s young orchard, which is one of several Community Orchards in the city. Step out and enjoy springtime in nature. A repeat of the walk offered last year.  This walk is a collaboration between the Leicester Tree Wardens and the Choose How You Move project.
