Secure cycle parking in Leicester City Centre 

There are a number of secure bike parking facilities in Leicester including St Margaret’s Cycle Hub, Bike Park Cycle Hub in Town Hall Square and Leicester Railway Station. 

1. St Margaret’s Cycle Hub (Gravel Street, LE1 3AQ) 

St Margaret’s Cycle Hub provides secure parking for up to 50 bicycles and two disability scooters. The hub is situated to the right of the main entrance of St Margaret’s Bus Station.

This facility offers peace of mind knowing your bike is secure while you’re at work, shopping, or exploring the city. Accessing the cycle hub is simple – once signed up for an Active Leicester Cycle Hub membership just scan your Active Leicester card and securely park your bike.

You can sign up for a Cycle Hub membership via Active Leicester. The subscription fee is £10 annually, but anyone who signs up currently will be granted free access for 12 months.

All electric scooters and any e-bikes with a power output exceeding 250w are not allowed, and this location does not offer charging facilities for e-bikes.

2. Bike Park at Town Hall Square

The Bike Park at Town Hall Square is a secure cycle hub right in Leicester’s centre. You’ll find it on the corner of Town Hall Square and Horsefair Street (LE1 9BG), where it’s staffed during opening hours. The facility offers space for up to 200 bicycles and e-cycles.

From Monday 7 July, cyclists using the secure parking offered at the Town Hall Bike Park will need to have an Active Leicester Cycle Hub membership. Membership will cost £10 per year but will be free for 12 months for anyone signing up before Monday 7 July.

Opening times:

  • Monday to Friday: 8am to 6.30pm
  • Saturday: 8.30am to 6pm
  • Sunday: 10am to 4pm

(Excluding public holidays).

 

3. East Midlands Railways – Cycle Hubs 

If you regularly pass by Leicester and Loughborough railway stations, make use of the cycle hubs which are free to use. Ask for an application form at the ticket office, and for a one-off fee of £10, you will receive a key fob, giving you access to secure cycle parking facilities.  This key fob will give you access to all East Midlands Railways cycle hubs  including Nottingham, Sheffield and Lincoln.  

Leicester Railway Station (London Road, LE2 0QB) 

Leicester Railway Station provides secure parking for 200 bicycles in the area beneath the station formerly known as the Red Star parcels area. The facility is equipped with separate changing rooms for men and women, CCTV surveillance, air conditioning, and a secure entry system operated by a key fob. Additionally, a departures screen is available for cyclists to monitor their train schedules.

Application forms for access can be obtained from the station’s ticket office. Alternatively, you can email the cycle hub to request an application.

Loughborough Railway Station (Station Boulevard, LE11 1EX) 

Located in the car park adjacent to the station building, Loughborough Station Cycle Hub provides sheltered facilities and secure bicycle storage spaces for 130 bikes. By purchasing a key fob, you gain unlimited access to these facilities, as well as additional services such as on-site cycle shops, bike hire, and repair services run by local cycle businesses. 

The cycle hub is open 24 hours a day.

Additional cycle parking and a second tool station and pump is available for non-members of the cycle hub scheme
