Welcome to our group walks programme for June.  

Walks are free to attend but places must be booked. For full details of each walk and to book, please visit Eventbrite via the links below.  Alternatively, book by phone during office hours (excludes weekends and bank holidays). Our contact details are at the bottom of the page.

Our Walks this month…

Special Interest Walk: Exploring South Highfields
Tuesday 2 June at 2pm
Starts at gates of Prebend Gardens, Prebend Street, off London Road.

Around 90 minutes with information stops. Steady pace.

Join us to explore the streets of the South Highfields Conservation Area, focusing on stories of some of the noteworthy people associated with it. We include a world-famous singer, explorers of the Antarctic and Amazon Rain Forest, people involved in the infamous ‘Green Bicycle’ legal trial of the early 20th century, and more. A repeat of the walk first offered in autumn 2025 and presented by one of our Walk Volunteers. Free to attend but booking is required.

Wildlife Walk: A Walk on the Wild Side in Victoria Park and Welford Road Cemetery
Wednesday 10 June at 10am
Starting from the Arch of Remembrance in Victoria Park
Between 90 minutes – 2 hours with information stops. Steady pace. 1.2 miles

A Walk on the Wild Side is hosted by an experienced wildlife expert who will lead you around the park, pausing to talk about the different types of insects, plants, birds and other wildlife found here. 
Please note: This route includes some soft and uneven paths in the park and some slopes within the cemetery, so may not be fully accessible.  As we are looking at wildlife, we regret that dogs are not permitted on our nature-themed walks.

Special Interest Walk: Westcotes Walk (new!)
Saturday 13 June at 11am 
Starting from the red community noticeboard on Braunstone Gate, opposite the Bede Street Mural.
Around 90 minutes with information stops. Steady pace.  1.8 miles.

Join us for a new heritage and local interest walk exploring the Westcotes area, with short information stops along the way to discover some of the places of interest. We include the Great Central Railway, businesses linked to the boot and shoe industry, a Roman site uncovered during the Victorian era, Narborough Road – the UK’s most diverse street, plus local faith buildings and homes. Free to attend but booking is required.

Seasonal Tree Tour in Western Park

Saturday 20 June at 11am

Starting from the main gates of Western Park (near the old tram shelter), Hinckley Road. 
Up to 90 minutes. Steady pace. 1.2 miles.

Join us for a guided walk through Western Park. Presented by the Volunteer Tree Wardens, this seasonal stroll takes in selected trees from the Western Park tree trail and visits the park’s community orchards along the way.

Free to attend but booking is required. This walk is a collaboration between the Leicester Tree Wardens and the Choose How You Move project.
