Abbey Park to Belgrave Hall (Walk 1) – via riverside and residential paths

Saturday 31 October, 11am

Starting in the Abbey Park –  location to be confirmed on booking

Around 90 minutes, medium pace

This is the first of our group walks from Abbey Park this morning. Step out with us for a pleasant walk along the scenic River Soar, passing familiar landmarks including the National Space Centre, Abbey Pumping Station and Belgrave Hall before returning to beautiful Abbey Park via combination of residential and riverside paths. At around 3 miles, this is one of our longer walks, led at a medium pace. A repeat of the walk we first led in autumn 2019. There will be a second group at the later time of 11.30am which must be booked separately.

Booking opens Thursday 8 October at 9am.

Our groups are smaller than before so booking is essential for all participants (including children, who must be accompanied by an adult) – please see ‘how to book’ below. Please do not turn up at walks if you have not booked – we regret you will be turned away.

Dress for the weather

Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather to ensure you are comfortable.

Group size

Group walks will be smaller than before to stay within the ‘rule of 6’ which allows a maximum of 6 people from different households to meet outdoors in a public space. This includes our volunteers who lead and assist the walk. To allow opportunities to others, a maximum of 2 people from the same household/ support bubble may attend. We are sorry that we cannot accommodate more people at this time. Please follow instructions for booking places and also observe the guidance below with regards to Covid-19.

Covid-19 and group walks

  • Please do not attend a walk if you or someone in your household/support bubble has symptoms of Covid-19. Instead, please stay home and self-isolate. See the latest information on the NHS website about self-isolating and obtaining a test.
  • If you develop symptoms within 14 days of attending a group walk, please let us know so that we can contact others.
  • During walks, we kindly ask walkers to maintain the 2m social distancing from each other and members of the public (or at least 1m if you are wearing a face mask).
  • Take hygiene precautions when you are outside (you may wish to carry your own hand sanitizer) and wash your hands as soon as you are back indoors.

Self-guided routes

If you have been unable to book onto one of our group walks, or you prefer to explore with your family or friends, self-guided routes are available to download from our routes page or via the Go Jauntly smartphone app. Enjoy exploring Leicester this autumn.
