There are a whole host of friendly walking groups to join across Leicester and Leicestershire, suitable for all abilities and age groups, unless otherwise specified. Most groups offer a choice of walks on different days, of different lengths. 

Short group walks in Leicester

Short group walks of up to 90 minutes are available in the city, suitable for most abilities.

Live Well Walk More provide health walks aimed at people who currently do little or no exercise, and for those who enjoy a short social walk to keep active. The focus is on improving physical and mental health, reducing social isolation and on general wellbeing. Check out the Live Well Walk More walking programme.

Walk Leicester Discovery Walks provide an opportunity to explore the city on foot and discover the city’s many great places to walk.

Group walks in Leicestershire

Walk Talk Walk Hinckley exists to make walking a sociable way to de-stress and feel part of a community. Whilst you chat, you walk for 5km. Speed or pace doesn’t matter and nobody is ever left behind. People of all levels of experience are welcomed and encouraged to come along. Find out more here – Walk Talk Walk 

Loughborough Nordic Walking provide Weekly Nordic walking led by experienced British Nordic Walking instructor Ciro. Suitable for beginners and more experienced walkers. Instruction given and poles available to borrow. Find out more here – Loughborough Nordic Walking

Moira Furnace Guided Walk is an ideal walk for people who want to get out of the house and meet other people. The walk can be up to 2 hours, covering around 4-5 miles. Routes alternate on a regular basis but are generally on flat on well surfaced canal tow paths. Find out more here – Moira Furnace Guided Walk

Shepshed Wellbeing Walks provide weekly health walk led by the friendly Shepshed Wellbeing Walks volunteers. Walks will follow a variety of routes around the village. All abilities welcome. Find out more here – Shepshed Wellbeing Walks 

Lutterworth Walking Group this walk is suitable for families, pushchairs and dogs but unfortunately not wheelchair users. – Find out more here – Lutterworth Walking Group

Live Well Walk More provide a weekly walk with required booking to attend. Find out more here – Live Well Walk More

Health Walk – Kirby Muxloe is led by a trained individuals, they’ll take you to the more picturesque places in the area and make sure you have a pleasant experience. Dogs are welcome on this walk. Find out more here – Health Walk – Kirby Muxloe

Harborough Inclusivity Walk is completely free to join and doesn’t require any fancy equipment, just a pair of shoes you find comfortable and is perfect for beginners. Find out more here – Harborough Inclusivity Walk

Bradgate Park Wellbeing Walk provide two walks each week: 60 minutes/2 miles and 90 minutes/4 miles. Free to attend and no need to book on. Find out more here – Bradgate Park Wellbeing Walk

The Ramblers and affiliated groups

By joining The Ramblers, you can walk with any group across the UK, including the eight Leicestershire & Rutland Area groups. There’s no obligation to join immediately – you’re welcome to try out two or three walks for free.
