Welcome to the Leicestershire Bike Bank
We want to make sure that Leicestershire residents and children can make their own travel choices, by providing bicycles to those who can’t get them.
You can help by donating your old or unwanted bikes – we’ll give it a new lease of life to someone in need.

How does the Leicestershire Bike Bank work?

Dropping off your bike
We’re collecting children’s bicycles in reasonable condition, for ages 9 and upwards.
You can donate your old or unwanted bike(s) via one of three methods:
|
Drop-off locations |
Donation stations |
Home collections |
-
Donation stations – drop-off locations

We’ll be roaming Leicestershire to collect your bikes – see our calendar below:
| Date | Location | Time |
| Tuesday 3rd February 2026 |
County Hall, Visitors Car Park (County Hall, Leicester Rd, Glenfield, Leicester LE3 8RA) | 08:00 – 09:00 |
| 12:00 – 13:00 | ||
| 16:00 – 17:00 |
2. Arrange a home collection

If you are unable to reach a donation station, then you can arrange a slot for home collection using the e-form. Please note that slots will be limited.
A second chance

Your bike will be checked for safety issues, then repaired through a scheme at HMP Stocken Prison (Rutland), helping people gain skills and give back to the community.
Finally, the newly-safe bikes will come back to us to distribute amongst schools and other active travel projects.
Bringing bikes to children in need

Children’s bikes will be passed onto schools around Leicestershire, which means children across the county can access bikes if they need them.
Active Together’s ‘Set, Pedal – Go!’ programme targets children most in need and works with schools to provide bikes throughout their school journey (subject to availability), delivering Learn to Ride training to develop essential safety skills.
Other initiatives

Dependent on the type and number of bikes we receive, we may be able to use bikes for other Choose How You Move projects – keeping Leicestershire cycling into the future.
If you have any questions, then you can contact us for more information.
