Special Interest Walk: More Stories from the Walls (New for 2026!) A short history/heritage walk through the city centre discovering more of Leicester’s buildings, people and their stories. We include the old Leicester Gaol with a story of one infamous 17th century prisoner, the creation and demise of the Old Free Grammar School and St Peter’s church, blue plaques to noteworthy individuals, the Trinity Hospital mosaic and also some familiar buildings in The Newarke area. This presentation is new for 2026 and includes some locations which have featured on other walks, but with some fresh information. This walk is presented by one of our Walk Volunteers. At just over 1 mile, this short walk is ideal for new walkers. Free to attend but booking is required. |

Special Interest Walk: Explore Urban Aylestone & St Mary’s Open Space A short walk from Aylestone Leisure Centre pausing at places of interest on Aylestone’s urban streets. We include a former police station, library, a blue plaque and the National Gas Museum. We return through St Mary’s Open Space, a relatively new green space in the city. This walk is presented by one of our Walk Volunteers. At just under 1.5 miles, this is one of our short walks led at a steady pace – ideal for new walkers. Free to attend but booking is required.
