Charnwood Bus Services

The Charnwood bus services that are funded by the Council have been reviewed to create more travel opportunities for residents, and to support the wider network provided by bus operators.

Changes came into effect from Monday 17th March 2025, with further improvements and renumbering of some Loughborough town services on Monday 14th July 2025.

Your enhanced bus network

The changes set out in the Charnwood Network Review aim to enhance existing services with more direct routes as well as connecting timetabled services to other transport options to reach our goal for a multi-modal Leicestershire and encourage sustainable travel.

Changes introduced so far:

A trial Sunday service on Centrebus 154 and Kinchbus 2
Kinchbus 2 also benefits from trial evening journeys

Wider Charnwood district bus services

LC5: Thurmaston – Sileby – Loughborough

This service has been renumbered from Centrebus service 27. The service will still be operated by Centrebus. Download Timetable.

Kinchbus 2: Loughborough – Quorn – Barrow upon Soar – Sileby

Enhancements include a Sunday timetable and additional evening journeys. The enhancements are funded by the Council’s BSIP grant and have been implemented on a trial basis to assess demand and monitor usage. Dow nload timetable or find out more on the Kinchbus website. From Monday 14th July, the service now runs hourly and has been re-routed in Loughborough to cover part of the previous route 13. This will also provide greater access to Great Central Railway.

Centrebus 154: Leicester – Loughborough

The council has enhanced the service to trial a Sunday timetable. The trial will measure passenger usage and benefit to the community. More information can be found on the Centrebus website or download timetable.

Loughborough town centre bus services

LC16: Loughborough – Shepshed – Ashby

This service is convenient for Loughborough Shopping Centre, Medical Centre, Citizens Advice, Job Centre, and Leisure Complex. This service has been renumbered from the 129 and will be operated by Arriva. Download Timetable.

Kinchbus 5: Ravensthorpe Drive – Town – Hazel Road Estate

Service 5 from Kinchbus will be re-routed to serve Haddon Way/Grange Park estate to improve access to Loughborough Town centre from the residential developments. This will replace the temporary 5a.
