Morning Walk: Castle Hill Country Park1

On Saturday 12 September, 11am

Up to 60 minutes, medium pace

Meeting location will be confirmed on booking.

This is the first of two walks we are leading this morning. Due to popularity we have added a slightly later walk (which must be booked separately), to allow more people the opportunity to attend. Please attend at the time you have booked – places will not be interchangeable between walks due to the need to limit participant numbers. Thank you.

Booking for walk 1 opens Monday 17 August at 9am.
Participant places: 5.

Enjoy a morning walk in this semi-rural park on the edge of the cityCastle Hill Country Park features both grassland and woodland habitats and is another great location to spot wildlife.  This is a social walk, guided by one of our volunteers. The country park includes some soft and uneven paths, please wear appropriate footwear.

Our groups are smaller than before so booking is essential – see ‘how to book’ below. Please do not turn up at walks if you have not booked – we regret you will be turned away.

Hot weather

In this weather, remember to take a bottle of water and to dress appropriately for the weather (sun hat, sunscreen etc) as there may be very little shade in some locations.

Group size

Groups will be smaller than before – a maximum of 5 participants with one walk leader. This complies with current government guidance that no more than 6 people from different households can meet outdoors in a public space, and helps keep groups manageable. To allow opportunities to others, a maximum of 2 people from the same household/ support bubble may attend. We are sorry that we cannot accommodate more people at this time. Please follow instructions for booking places and also observe the guidance below with regards to Covid-19.

Covid-19 and group walks

  • Please do not attend a walk if you or someone in your household/support bubble has symptoms of Covid-19. Instead, please stay home and self-isolate. See the latest information on the NHS website about self-isolating and obtaining a test.
  • If you develop symptoms within 14 days of attending a group walk, please let us know so that we can contact others.
  • During walks, we kindly ask walkers to maintain the 2m social distancing from each other and members of the public (or at least 1m if you are wearing a face mask).
  • Take hygiene precautions when you are outside (you may wish to carry your own hand sanitizer) and wash your hands as soon as you are back indoors.

Self-guided routes

If you have been unable to book onto one of our group walks, or you prefer to explore with your family or friends, self-guided routes are available to download from our routes page or via the Go Jauntly smartphone app. Enjoy exploring Leicester this summer.

How to book

Booking opens Monday 17 August at 9am. Booking is essential.

Click ‘Book your space’ below to go to our Eventbrite page and register for this walk, or phone 0116 373 7859 when booking has opened (places will not be available before). Our phone line is answered during office hours (Monday to Friday, 9am-5.30pm), not at weekends.

We will confirm the start location for the walk on booking.

A reminder – please do not turn up at walks if you have not booked – we regret you will be turned away.

New Walkers

Once you have booked a place, if you have not walked with Leicester City Council before we will ask you to complete a Walker Registration form before you attend the walk. You will only need to complete the registration form once and can attend any of our walks thereafter (subject to booking a place). We can send you a link to complete the registration form online or you can speak to our staff to complete it over the phone in advance of the walk.

Cancellations
If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your place via Eventbrite or contact us by phone (during office hours) to cancel your place so we can allow others the opportunity to attend. This is especially important while our group sizes are small. Thank you in advance.
