Walk on the Wild Side: Ellis Meadows
On Wednesday 30 June at 10am
Between 60 – 90 minutes, steady pace
Meeting location will be confirmed on booking.
Join an experienced wildlife expert to explore the meadows and learn about the different types of plants, insects and other wildlife that live here. Ellis Meadows is a little-known green space in the city. It is located not far from the National Space Centre and Abbey Pumping Station.
Please be aware there are no public toilet facilities on this route. Groups are smaller than before so booking is essential for all participants (including children under 16, who must be accompanied by an adult) – please see ‘how to book’ below. Please do not turn up at walks if you have not booked – we regret you will be turned away.
Dress for the weather
Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather to ensure you are comfortable. Walkers are recommended to bring a bottle of water with them.
For walks in the city centre it is helpful if walkers wear a face mask. This allows the group to gather safely at road crossings where there is less space.
Group size
Group walks will remain smaller than before, to enable our walkers to maintain social distancing. After 17 May we will open up some additional places on our walks. Group size will depend on the walk location and the amount of space available for social distancing (at the start and during the walk). Please follow instructions for booking places and also observe the guidance below with regards to Covid-19.
Covid-19 and group walks
- Please do not attend a walk if you or someone in your household/support bubble has symptoms of Covid-19. Instead, please stay home, self-isolate and book a test. Information about how to order a test online or by phone is detailed on the on the Leicester City Council website. Please do not attend a walk if you are awaiting the results of a Covid-19 test. The NHS website provides information about symptoms and more.
- During walks, we kindly ask walkers to maintain the 2m social distancing from each other and members of the public (or at least 1m if you are wearing a face mask). Please respect other people’s space.
- Take hygiene precautions when you are outside (you may wish to carry your own hand sanitizer) and wash your hands as soon as you are back indoors.
