Guided Walk – Roamin’ Through Roman Leicester

Sunday 2 October at 11am
Starting near the pedestrian footbridge in Castle Gardens, off The Newarke and St Augustine Road

Walk takes around 90 minutes at a steady pace, plus refreshment opportunity afterwards (optional)

As part of the Jewry Wall Museum’s Our Roman City project*, join local historian Jim Butler (of Hidden Histories of Leicester) on an exploration of the epic rise and fall of Roman Britain as told through the stories left by the people and places of Roman Leicester.

Discover how the town evolved into a cosmopolitan hub for people from across the Roman Empire and North Africa, where work, play, love and loss were just part of everyday life. The walk will conclude close to The Guildhall, where light refreshments will be available (optional).

*Please note: ‘Our Roman City’ is a community project linked to the redevelopment of Jewry Wall Museum. As part of the project, elements of this guided walk will be filmed and some footage may be part of the museum’s new public exhibition. All those taking part in the walk will be required to consent to being filmed.

The Walk is free to attend but please book as numbers are limited.
